Kajal paints landscapes because landscapes hold everything. A field at dusk, the ocean before rain, Central Park in October — these are not just scenes to her. They are mirrors: places that echo what we carry inside us, what we move through, what we survive and celebrate. Nature, for Kajal, is the most honest language she knows for the full range of human experience
Born in India, shaped by California, and now fully alive in New York — Kajal's practice carries the accumulated light of all three places. She works in oil and acrylic on canvas, building surfaces through layering and palette knife, until the painting breathes. Her work has been collected internationally, featured in Elle Décor, placed through Williams Sonoma Home, and shown at major art fairs from Miami to the Hamptons.

Rujuta's relationship with art began in India, where she grew up surrounded by color, pattern, and visual richness — an environment that quietly formed the way she sees everything that came after. Life then took her across continents: Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka. Each country left its mark. The people, the everyday visuals, the cultural textures of those places became part of her painter's eye in ways she is still discovering on the canvas.
Now based in New York, Rujuta works in oil and acrylic, beginning each painting with a loose idea and then letting the process take over — the brush, the color, the emerging pattern finding their own direction toward a unified whole. Her work spans figurative, abstract, and nature-inspired painting, all united by a commitment to observation, instinct, and the quiet authority of color. She has exhibited at major art fairs across New York, Palm Beach, and beyond, and is represented by galleries in Canada, Ohio, and Florida.
